What To Advertise To Effectively Rent Your House
Before renting your property you should speak to an attorney, preferably a real estate attorney about your legal rights as a landlord and to also have come up with a lease that works for you in your home state.
Once you have done your legal homework and are ready to rent your property the following suggestions should help you to effectively advertise and rent your property.
- How much should you charge for rent?
- Should your lease be month to month, for 6 months, or annually?
- How many tenants do you want to allow in your property?
- What is the security deposit you want to charge?
- Will you allow pets? If so, what pets will you allow?
- How should a prospect contact you?
- What is special about your property - home features like a pool or hot tub?
- Where is your home located? Is it near a great school, or employment center?
Once you go through answering these questions you should be ready to start advertising your house for rent.
Your ad should cover some or all of the following:
- rent amount,
- size of your property,
- location of your property,
- length of the lease,
- special amenities and features of your home,
- phone number for interested parties to call,
- times for when someone can view the property,
- pets allowed or not,
- and how many tenants.
Make sure that you tell the truth about your property. Do not sugar coat your ad to get your home rented. The last thing you want to do is to get a prospective tenant mad because you misrepresented your property.
Write your ad so that it is easy to read and that anyone can understand it. Spell out abbreviations and never assume that people know what you are talking about. - No Jargon Please.
